Food for Thought.

I am overwhelmed by the solid chess advice that’s given through the many personal Chess journals that I subscribe to, and I try to spend a little time each evening searching out new sites of interest. You can see my favorites in the sidebar under the Chess heading. Here’s a short list – a few of my favorite posts that I am using to draw a little Chess knowledge from -

• Opening Study – Some Diverse Opinions. A multi-part series from Robert Pearson’s Chess Blog.
• All the video posts over at Majnu’s Chess End Games site. Not a lot of posts there yet, but I’ve got my eye on it. I’ve always struggled with my end game play. This info helps.
• A Better Explanation of Fritz 9 Training Modes, linked from Steve Eddins’ site. He is actually referring to an article on Chessbase, but I like reading his blog. I used Fritz 10, and it still thoroughly confuses me as a training tool. He was the one who told me about Palview, and the excellent web page game output it is capable of, if one knows how to properly use the software, something I am still struggling with. But I’m getting there… slowly.
• Lessons From Blitz, over at Confessions of a Chess Novice. Actually he has quite a few posts that interest me, but this one caught my eye, because it validates my love of blitz, even though I’m not that good at it. I’m also intrigued by the references to The Knights Errant, and the Circles program.
• Chess Opening Traps, and How to Avoid Them, at the blog of Edwin Meyer.

There are plenty of others, but these are the ones I picked up on the last several days. If you have any other suggestions that aren’t in my sidebar, please let me know. I’m always searching for new stuff.
