Sherlock Holmes and The Musgrave Ritual.

From the description:

After Phillip and Geoffrey Musgrave are found murdered, the sole heir of the estate reads the ceremonial “Musgrave Ritual” which Sherlock Holmes believes contains the motive to the crime. Using the manor’s main hall floor as a giant chessboard and people as chess pieces, the “Ritual” eventually leads Holmes to more than he bargained for. Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s THE MUSGRAVE RITUAL, this classic film adaptation pairs the definitive Holmes and Watson, Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.

I bought this DVD from amazon – neat old Sherlock Holmes movie. Here’s the Amazon link to it -

Jaques Staunton 1852 Restoration.

I have a set very similar to this that I will be talking about soon. Meanwhile, this will be a fascinating restoration to follow along with,  as my pieces have similar damage.  Nothing major,  just small imperfections and flaws that occur after seeing use for 150 years.

Perseverence to Succeed.

An inspirational video/picture compilation from jtlauser.  From her youtube page -

“Ironically, though, I compete, head-to-head with almost exclusively fully-sighted opponents, and have earned a rank among the Top 100 (fully-sighted) Women in the nation for Blitz. Additionally, I am ranked among the Top 20 players, overall, in Alaska, and am, to the best of my knowledge, the #1 woman in the state.

Finally, I hope to inspire others with my successes, and even my failures, as these are all a part of who I am as a chessplayer, and will, hopefully, make me a stronger competitor in the end.”

Mind Over Matter II.

From the Geek Entertainment TV Youtube page -

It just about time for the Second Annual Chess Kings Invitational and Scholarship Exhibition Tournament brought to you by none other than the Bay Areas own Hip Hop Chess Federation! Thats quite a mouthful, but say it again cuz its worth it. With help from friends like the Wu Tang Clan, HHCF has given out more than $10,000 in scholarships, and they only started last year. Irina met with HHCF founder Adisa Banjoko at OConnell high school in San Francisco where kids are already practicing their skills on the chess boards, getting ready for the February event.”
